Guns

Problem:

The way guns are acquired now is unrealistic.

Solution:

Steel, Aluminum, and Plastic Can be found in Trash, on the beach with a metal detector, and from chop-shop.

The items can be used to make a Weapon or Advanced Lock-pick.

Street price per 1 item:

Steel $175

Plastic $150

Aluminum $100

                                                                                                       Cost to Craft

100 Steel + 100 Plastic + 100 Aluminum   =     1 LMG        =   $42,500

90 Steel + 90 Plastic + 90 Aluminum          =     1 M4           =   $38,250

75 Steel + 75 Plastic + 75 Aluminum          =     1 UZI           =  $31,875

50 Steel + 50 Plastic + 50 Aluminum          =     1 Silencer   =  $21,250

40 Steel + 40 Plastic + 40 Aluminum          =     1 Ext. Mag  =  $17,000

30 Steel + 30 Plastic + 30 Aluminum          =     1 Deagle      = $12,750

20 Plastic + 50 Aluminum                             =     5 Lock-picks  = $8,000

Balance:

Option 1:

Whitelist two gangs that can craft guns.

Whitelist other gangs weed/coke/meth drugs.

Option 2:

Hide the crafting location.

Option 3:

Anyone can build a crafting table if they figure out how.

I like the idea of some kind of crafting & raw materials but building an M4 from scratch out of them doesn't seem very realistic.  I'd definitely limit gun crafting to a civ job rather than a criminal location that could be camped or a whitelist. Sounds like the plan is to remove the M4 entirely?  The LMG in particular doesn't seem necessary to me on an RP server.  I'd rather see something like car bombs that at least require a bit of planning to use if we're going to have that tier of weapon.

Giving any gang exclusive control of weapons or drugs just sounds like a mess.  I can't imagine any gang being ok with that for long, let alone a new one trying to get started & having access to nothing.

"raw materials but building an M4 from scratch out of them doesn't seem very realistic" So how do you think M4's are made?

LMG doesn't seem necessary but a car bomb does! Okay......?  How are criminal going to get illegal weapons such as the M4 if a Civilian is the one making them? Wouldn't that make them a criminal? I'm sorry, but none of that made sense to me.

I don't think they're generally made by an individual hobbyist using raw materials at a workbench, to be more clear.  Now,  slam fire style "zip" guns being manufactured on the black market would be more plausible IMO & more interesting for RP.

Neither one is necessary but a car bomb would make more sense to me, both as something that a master criminal would realistically self-assemble & for the sake of RP.

I don't think an M4 should be craftable to begin with.  Customization Items like extended mags or silencers seem like a better option for crafting.  Legality is a separate question, but I do think the DE & revolver should be legal.  They're both handguns & considering the heavier illegal weapons available they seem like a reasonable high-end option for civs.  Plus, full disclosure; I dig the wheelguns.

I disagree with the opening statement about the current method of buying guns being unrealistic.  Making high-end firearms out of scrap metal and dumpster-dived parts seems *much* less likely to me.

You don't know the method I mean to get the illegal guns. I'm not talking about any of the ammunition guns being crafted. I'm not gonna meta game the method I am referring to. If you know you know T.M.I.

Neither am I, don't assume what I know :)

This is already planned and we have a system sorted out already. Just needs to be put in. It’s pretty much exactly what you have typed here with the exception of where you will need to craft weapons and how easily you’ll be able to get there. This is ok because it will enforce that progression that will prevent brand new players from jumping right into it on day 1 in city.
