Commercial Vehicles

This came up due to people abusing the tow trucks, but I've thought about it before so people could buy the "Mule" box trucks, tour buses or some of the liveried vehicles that are not currently available.

The driver would need a CDL to operate them legally, but dealerships could also require a valid business license for the buyer.  This could also create a lot of 3rd-party RP with the potential for hijacking, player-driven hauling jobs & so on.

This would provide another benefit for the upcoming "Companies" in 1.0 and help them stand out a bit more, while also creating 2 separate levels of deterrent since both the driver and owner would be responsible for how they are being used.  Of course revoking a business license would be for serious repeat offenders & likely create some court RP before that could happen.

Would be cool if you have to hook them up yourself, I generally speaking hop out the cab and ‘hook’ them up for fun anyway

Maybe if you had to get out of the truck and hook it up, "hands full" for 15-20 seconds of mechanic emotes like a repair?

A player-owned rental truck company is a great example of how limited access to this class of vehicle might create some fun RP.

I don’t see issues with tow trucks. But I do see issues with not having it in the rules for stealing a tow truck to steal a mass amount of cars and it not being considered fail RP. I think this is something that needs to be added. A tow truck isn’t fast to pick up cars, so to just drop hook and snag them over and over is stupid, it’s abusing game mechanics over Role play.
I think similar to lockpicking a tow truck should require time to get a car loaded up. I think this would help curve the issue we see not just here but many servers.

To your point I see no reason why people shouldn’t be able to purchase certain industrial vehicles. Others should be allowed with a business. Something like a box truck though is currently acceptable to purchase in our real world but something like a semi would require a CDL. A box truck shouldn’t like a mule. Otherwise companies like Uhaul wouldn’t be so convenient.
