Tax charges on cars.

So, starting this off.

After yesterday there is an increase of 7% on cars. related to "taxes"

I've multiple questions.

1. Where do the taxes go?

2. Is there a use for the tax that is being paid?

3. Does this benefit in any sort of way in rp? If so. in what way?

Stating this? Taxes you think? not bad 7%? Keep in mind, this basically made 1. cars useless Or made cars 7% more expensive. With no increase in the economy.

This Is a economy-based server. I understand that. But why chance the expenses, and not the incomes?

Stating this. Economy based. the LSPD is paid by the government Or Taxpayers. (This inflicts on question 1)

Does this mean the LSPD is going to be funded by tax money? Is there any use of the tax system related to "RP"?

At this moment in time. dealerships have to make there own profit. they are not getting paid a "paycheck"

Or is the tax money going to be used in court cases? to fund lawyers? or perhaps judges? maybe the "victim" at the court case that wins the case gets paid by tax money?

Example: If you buy a 2 million dollar car. the tax amount is 7% , the tax amount in dollars will be 140.000$ (2.000.000/100x7)

That is a lot of money. Where does it go? is it used in something? or does it disappears into thin air?

Also comments where made about people being in the city for 2 weeks, having 500k in the bank. Maybe they are online more often? Maybe they work all the time when they are in the city? No clue. that's for said people with said bank account to tell us.

Conclusion: Is there any use of tax payments in this economy? or is it just a waste of time and money you invest in your car OR rp character?

Ps. I personally feel attacked by the comments that are made towards me. for no reason trying to fix this.

Lawyers will be able to to title transfers for a fee in an upcoming update. The tax is necessary for many reasons and was put in as part of our focus to attempt to enable a long term economy server that doesn't have to endure yearly wipes. There is nothing to fix here.

Regarding the 2nd post, it's normal for used cars to lose value but I think the huge drop-off had more to do with people exploiting than anything else.  TBH I see a lot of overpriced (IMHO) used cars at dealerships now.  I think people overestimate the value of bodywork - something I'm probably going to change anyway.  I would consider a fair price on a used vehicle to be near or slightly above stock price when fully tuned.  The cosmetics don't actually add much value because almost everyone wants their own customizations.  In fact I often prefer stock models so I'm not having to correct items I didn't want anyway.

More to OP's points, those are some good questions being raised.  I think some of it is beyond the scope of trading cars in particular but it does raise some other concerns.  What happens if I want to give someone a car? I have to go to a dealership, but what do they get for their efforts? Beyond that, isn't there a conflict of interest there when they're trying to buy and sell cars too? Now there's an interested 3rd party with the power to turn you away or outbid you.  On the flip side, what's to stop me from "selling" a high-end car directly to someone then having the dealer transfer it for $100 to avoid being taxed twice in the sale? The buyer pays me directly and the dealer & "government" get nothing.

I think transferring vehicles should be handled by a lawyer, who gets paid that percentage instead or can charge a minimum fee.

The only reason that I appreciate the tax is the fact that it keeps the said vehicle's value up. It could also push people to buy a brand new car from a dealership, rather than from a person (because some people would rather not sell their cars because of this tax). Not so long ago, a car that was imported for let's say $300,000 was ending up for sale for around half of it's value at Motomarket. Cars used to lose their value very quickly because people were trading their cars left and right, each day buying a new car.

Maybe this was also made to stop people giving away their cars "for free" to their friends. Having to pay at least the tax. But these are just my guesses.

EDIT: Not to mention that not so long ago all the imports got a lot cheaper. So having to pay this 7% tax on top, still makes them way cheaper than what they used to be.
