Off Duty LSPD

Allow off duty LSPD to still keep their arresting powers.

After a certain rank (Supervisors and up. By this rank they should have a vast knowledge of when and how to arrest) this should be allowed. We are off duty but we are still cops.

First of all, the hostility and attitude in this post is absurd and uncalled for. Treat each other with respect and be constructive with your feedback. This is not a place to be throwing shade and accusations around.

This is idea will not be implemented although I understand the reasons for requesting it. From a coding perspective it just isn't that easy to do and with how we treat whitelist job abilities it just doesn't fit in our current ecosystem of jobs.

Okay, so what makes you as PD high-ranks better than an EMS high-rank who could get the ability to revive people while off-duty? Or what makes PD in general any better than any other whitelist job? Why just PD then, and not all the whitelist jobs have something like this implemented?

On the other hand, you should try some other types of RP as well. Because if you want to RP as an on duty cop even when you are off duty, that’s weird. I just can’t see why would you want and need so much power while off duty? You feel like arresting some mfkers, then go and clock on and do it. You see crime happening while off duty, introduce yourself as an officer and pull your gun and hold him like that until on duty backup arrives and takes him in custody. Just like regular people can do “citizen arrests” , right? If it’s just about “handcuffing” the suspect then this suggestion is wrong, there should have been made a suggestion for adding handcuffs as an actual item for both PD and civilians, then you would just clock off and keep the handcuffs on you just like you keep your pistol.

Honestly if this suggestion goes through the way it’s made right now, it wouldn’t surprise me if “high ranking PD officers” will want to drive their marked vehicles while off-duty next.

Why so hostile? it was a suggestion. maybe because it adds to the immersion of it all. but it is what it is.. I agreed to the zip-tie idea that was suggested as well, makes no difference to me, figured it was a nice addition to the PD RP. We don't get all the crazy 1 shot kill guns, super fast cars, and stuff.

So instead of providing constructive feedback, we just poke holes in a thread and essentially put in a "me too" response? We are better than that.

I think in city it should be "clocked in or not clocked in". Even if locked to certain ranks, I only see problems because some people just can't help themselves.

I really like the ziptie idea or cuffs available to everyone that perhaps aren't "PD grade" and can be broken out of or maybe they allow you to sprint while cuffed or they only last for "x" number of minutes. However, I still think the specific suggestion of high ranks arresting folks off duty just creates unnecessary negativity that won't outweigh the potential benefit.

I'm a mechanic supervisor and I'd like to impound every car I see left and right while off duty. Plz.

As a mechanic I would know how to fix a broken engine whilst out on the streets so if Im driving around and my car breaks down from bumping into a wall, how comes im not able to just pop the hood and use my mech powers to fix my car?

Repair kit do the same thing and there are repair shops all over the place. So you quite literally can do exactly what you described. There aren't holding cells throught the city. Nor is there anything to restrain someone. I am all for including zip ties as an item with a chance to break out.

How could this apply to mechs? I get EMS. I suggested this because there have been countless times I've been off duty/no officers on ect and seen crimes that would warrant an arrest. So versus leave the area return to PD clock on and go all the way back just to find out they have left the area. I suggested supervisors and above just so this wouldn't be abused in that fashion.

I like the idea but it seems difficult to implement in city. Perhaps like a modified admin clock in, but without pay. I can't say I've ever been off duty to witness a crime i want to arrest someone for, but I'm rarely off duty. Why not rp the scenario and record the crime as evidence to submit a warrant on duty? If the crime is bad enough that we need to enbale off duty powers of arrest, it's bad enough to record to crime, identify suspects and issue a warrant to be served later.

couldn't this then apply for mechs or EMS? why wouldn't you just call a cop and let him have his RP? if you are still looking to be able to do your job you should just clock on I feel. if cops are allowed this then cuffs should become an item in city as it would make much more sense and you couldn't abuse your powers by cuffing anyone at any time. You would need a pair of cuffs.

I'm a cop as well and this makes no sense to me to be honest. Just like it was said above, if you want to arrest somebody you can just go upstairs and clock on and do it. Unless you suggested this just to have handcuffs off-duty, in that case it should be an actual item that all the players could have, PD or not PD.
