whitelist the taxi job it might be a good idea it'll help new people to Rp because it's an easy job to do before maybe taking the next step to getting a harder whitelisted job and it'll bring good Rp interactions with people using it to get from A to B it could also have its own radio channel just like the other jobs have
I also notice the problem right now is that mostly taxi drivers are very new people, thats fine ofcourse but what happens is I send a message requesting a taxi (I enjoy the taxi service RP) and then they dont know how to respond. I cannot read the message they send in the same channel so most of the time I dont know if someone is actually coming or not.
I can confirm I was guilty of this the very first message that came into the Taxi Group Messages on your phone, it's not very intuitive to realize "Hey, maybe I should just text this person directly." which I did do about 3 minutes after they asked for a pickup. I personally just wasn't sure if that was the proper thing to do or if they saw replies. Only reason I texted them directly is because I thought it was weird that I was getting a reply of the messages I sent.
Went hard at the taxi driver RP for a good while, advertised in Yellow Pages & Twitter every time I was clocked in. We were lucky to get a call from another player. I think the most we ever had in one shift was 3.
If DTCC were a whitelist job I think it'd need to have more going on to hold people's interest. Limo service, shuttle bus routes - something to provide a lot more RP opportunity than it offers now. It would also need people dedicated to running it along with the content to make it someplace people want to dedicate themselves to vs. the sort of stepping-stone to other jobs it functions as now.
With the rank system coming for public jobs & the option for player businesses I can see an opportunity for a private company to use the dispatch function trying to poach clients for their own drivers. Taxi war RP sounds pretty entertaining.
I like the idea & upvoted but those are my reservations.
Would agree that the group text messaging can be confusing even though it's helpful once you figure it out. I tried to get other drivers to use a shared radio channel to coordinate but that rarely worked out. Getting people to RP & not just grind local fares is a challenge in itself, as OP stated.
Not a whiltelist job, but will be drastically enhancing taxi job.
